UNIMASians gathered on the infamous "tikar" to enjoy sunset and sungkey together

KOTA SAMARAHAN - 14 April: In this year’s Ramadhan month, a special event, #sungkeybersama was hosted by UNIMAS Corporate in conjunction with Cempaka College and Centre for Student Services. The more the merrier, all UNIMAS communities were invited to join and liven up this picnic-style breaking fast event.

This event began at 5 p.m. with a Qasidah and Nasyid performance by SuCie (Unit Pengurusan Surau Cempaka). Afterward, Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim bin Suaidi,
arrived with his beloved wife, and celebrated his 10th years as the Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS on the day as well. He gave a speech and officially launched the programme “Lemari Madani HELP_A”.

Everyone that joined either brought their own food or bought it from the food stalls that were available. Sharing is caring! Free foods such as freshly grilled chicken and beef satays on the spot and orange juice were prepared for all who came.

Underneath the breathtaking sunset view in UNIMAS at 6 p.m., participants gathered and sat together on picnic mats, or tikar, that were provided by Cempaka College while waiting for Quran recitations and Maghrib Azan to break fast together. People of all races and ages enjoyed each other’s company while having fun, chit-chatting, and taking pictures to remember the day.

At 6.46 p.m., it was time for iftar, and so everyone started to sungkey joyfully with their dearest ones. They were passing around their favourite dishes to share. After the meals were finished, everyone did not forget to clean up after themselves, leaving no trash behind. At nearly 8 p.m., this event ended on happy notes.
